Yesterday Billy Joel joined Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock, opera star Martina Arroyo and actress Shirley MacLaine in receiving the Kennedy Center Honors. All have been playing music, dancing or singing since they were children.

It was on this day back in 1989, that Billy Joel started a two week run at No.1 with 'We Didn't Start The Fire'.  The lyrics, of course cover over a hundred headline events between 1949, (Billy Joel’s birth year) and 1989, when the song was released on his album Storm Front.

Here are two videos for you. The official one and a fan version with pictures from all the events Billy mentions.
