After visiting Texas many times, Louisiana native Darren Gauthier has finally crossed over the Sabine Pass into the Lone Star State as the new Operations Manager for Townsquare Media’s five stations in Central Texas. Originally from New Orleans, Darren grew up in nearby Baton Rouge and is a proud alum of LSU. Darren got his start at the campus radio station KLSU, rising to the role of station manager before being lured to work in the exciting world of New Orleans rock radio. Darren returned to Baton Rouge in 2001 rising to the top of the programming food chain while holding down a six-day airshift for a decade. One of the stations he oversaw was twice-nominated for the prestigious Marconi award - radio’s version of the Oscar® - in 2012 and again in 2015. Seeking new challenges and a change of scene, Darren Gauthier was recruited by K-101.7 and the sister stations to bring a personal touch and a renewed sense of community focus to the stations in Killeen and Temple.

Only in Texas: Cat Chilling with a Rattlesnake
Most of us would say, "why did it have to be a snake?" But there's one cat at South Texas who doesn't let the presence of a full-grown rattler disrupt his cool.
According to the report, local residents felt the kitty was not being as cautious as he ought to be given the presence of a poisonous snake mere feet away...
Insurance Company Decides to Pay to Treat Hewitt Girl
It was Theodore Roosevelt who famously said, "I speak softly but I carry a big stick." Sometimes, it's quiet determination, a steady resolve mixed with unbreakable intent, which can convince someone they've found themselves cross-ways with someone whom they ought not be crosswise if they know what's good for them...
Sunday Temple Traffic Troubles on I-35
Details are few and far between but an accident on I-35 has snarled traffic in both directions for miles in Temple.

Free Lunch Friday Brings Blazing Good Barbecue for Temple Firefighters
We always love giving much respect to our public service workers. A few weeks ago, a fire broke out in a pile of wood next to our building. The pros from Temple Fire and Rescue were there almost instantaneously and, even though it was a minor event, it was still reassuring to know they were on the job...

Goodness Gracious, Sweet Child of Mine! Guns n' Roses are on tour and stopping in the West Texas city of El Paso. I know we all don't make it that far west as often as we'd like - in Bell County we are actually closer to New Orleans than we are to El Paso - it's nice to see our fellow Texans out there...
Robust Texas Economy Adds 9,500 Jobs in March
More solid economic news for the Lone Star State: 9,500 nonfarm jobs were added to the Texas economy in March.
At the same time, Texas’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased to 5%. It was 4.9% the month before but that's a statistical wobble as far as I'm concerned...
