It's been less than two weeks since Uber and Lyft hightailed it out of town and already the tech community in Austin has responded with a non-profit ride-sharing service exclusive to Austin.

Unveiled Monday and broken in the media by the Austin American-Statesman, the new service is called Ride Austin, and the official app has already been launched even though service does not start until June.

On the official Ride Austin website, the group claims drivers will be paid more and riders will pay less in fares.
