Last we heard of Arrested Development Season 5 (and mind you, we’ve been hearing for years), Will Arnett thought Netflix bosses “need to get their s— together” to make it happen. Well, good news! According to creator Mitch Hurwitz, said s— has perhaps indeed come together, enough for a potential early 2017 production. Let’s immediately get our hopes up!

Hurwitz naturally endured a question or two at a Netflix panel from the ongoing TCA press tour, sounding a bit more hopeful with the specifics than we’ve heard from producer Brian Grazer in the past. As per usual, it’s a matter of scheduling that expansive cast (minus Scott Baio, anyway), with early 2017 earmarked as a possible start date:

We’re very close. It’s a thing I really am desperate to do. We’ve got a lot of the stories broken. We’re kinda ready to go. I’m so appreciative of the fans wanting more, I hate to tease them with information that there is going to be more until we know for sure, but it’s what we’re trying to accomplish and if does happen it looks like shooting would be at the start of 2017. That’s what I’m hoping.

Previously, Hurwitz has mapped out a large portion of Season 5, hoping to start soon enough to capitalize on eerie similarities to the November elections. Is 2017 finally our year?
