Temple, Texas's Director of Animal Services Walter Hetzel has a phrase to describe mutts of the most uncommon variety: "through the fence dogs."

What kind of coordinating went on through the fence to facilitate the mating of a German Shepard and a Dachshund we don't know.  Honestly, I don't think I want to know!

Result was this pup, Alastair by name. Like Napoleon Dynamite's beloved Liger was to big cats, I think we have the makings of a whole new breed of dog.

Temple Animal Services is located at 620 Mama Dog Circle in Temple, just off 31st Street and Avenue H.
