This gives a whole new meaning to Cabbage Patch Kids.

According to KWTX News, 3rd graders at Western Hills Elementary in Temple started growing cabbages through the Bonnie Plants program. Now those kids have advanced to a national competition.

The cabbages were judged on appearance and size. Some of the cabbages came in at 11 pounds. That's a lot of slaw my friends.

The Rockin Roadruner Junior Master Gardeners is the name of the club and they grow more than just cabbages. It teaches students about growing their food. Plus, being part of a team and taking initiative.

The food grown will either go home with the students, sent to the school chef, or is sold to teachers and parents.
