Eight different fire departments responded to a 30-acre grass fire near Moffat, Texas on Monday.A huge grass fire started up around 2 pm Monday afternoon along Burgandy Road near Moffat. Fire Chief Brian Falkenberg says they did not yet know how the fire got started, but he reminds area residents that a burn ban is in effect. Until conditions change, no outdoor burning is permitted.

The Moffat Fire Chief also reminds us during dry stretches like the one currently in place, keeping grass short lowers the chance it will catch in the event of a fire.

Despite the size of the fire, nobody got hurt, and no structures caught fire. Falkenberg said this is a credit to the coordinated efforts of all the fire departments who came together to put out the fire. Over 30 firefighters took part in putting out the blaze.
