5 Spectacular Texas Caves You Can Drive To Right Now
Texas weather is so unpredictable. So should your plans. So when the sun is out in spring, Central Texans need to take advantage of all the beauty the lone star state has to offer. And sometimes that beauty can be found in a musty, dark, old cave.
Here you'll find 5 caves within driving distance from Bell County. Some are really close, some might require some patience, but all of them are awesome spots to explore.

Inner Space Cavern
About 40 MinutesWhether it's hot or cold, Inner Space Cavern located north of Austin in Georgetown is great any season because the temperature is perfect - a moderate 72 degrees all year round.
- Adventure Tour - a 75 minute little over a mile guided tour of the cavern.
- Explorer's Tour - a 1.25 mile tour that takes an hour and 35 minutes and includes the Adventure Tour.
- Wild Cave Tour - on this reservation only tour you'll strap on knee pads, elbow pads, and a helmet with a light and get dirty as you explore by walking and crawling through several sections of the cavern for 3.5 to 4 hours.

Enchanted Rock Cave
About 2 HoursEnchanted Rock Cave, found in Fredericksburg, is supposedly beautiful during springtime due to tons of wildflowers in the scene. You can climb to the top of Enchanted Rock or you can traverse through the cave - either way, you're enjoying some great nature. All levels of hikers can get to the top.

Cave without a Name
About 2 1/2 HoursPerhaps my favorite because of the "name" of the cave. "Cave Without a Name" is voted the #1 thing to experience in Boerne, according to Trip Advisor and the response from nature lovers is overwhelmingly popular. Take the tour or explore for yourself. It promises to be worth the drive.

Eckert James River Bat Cave Preserve
About 2 1/2 HoursOk. If you're terrified of bats, maybe this isn't the place for you - but you live in Texas so you should probably confront your fear some time. Voted the #1 thing to do in Mason, TX is this bat cave preserve. Check out one of the reviews:
I have seen bat emergencies in Austin, at Bracken Cave and Old Tunnel. But I've never gotten up before dawn to catch them returning home to the roost at sunrise. What an amazing experience! The setup here makes for a wonderfully close view of one of nature's most amazing spectacles.

Frio Cave
3 1/2 HoursConcan, TX is as far as I'm going to take you today. Frio Cave is also home to millions of bats. The cave is massive and the Frio River ain't too much of an eyesore either. Especially since spring breakers are gone.
