I survived another 4th of July. Hope you all did as well.

I didn't realize how crazy the city of Temple is during the 4th. I got caught over in the Miller Park area 15 minutes before the start of the fireworks. It was crazy. I posted a comment

It was when we switched to Roman Candles that it got a little crazy

on Facebook about how you can watch fireworks on YouTube and was told to pull the stick out. I did. Luckily I was home watching fireworks on TV so I could remove it from the comfort of my own toilet.

Anyway, as I was driving home I was happy to see kids are still having bottle rocket wars. I always enjoyed that. It was when we switched to Roman Candles that it got a little crazy. People might call that bad parenting, letting kids battle with fireworks. Maybe a little, but it's how kids learn, by maiming others.

Did you hear about the young man who blew up his own head in Maine? It seems he placed a fireworks mortar tube on his head, because the sidewalk was too far away I guess. Well the mortar exploded. Yes, he died. And yes, he was drinking. I'd wager he wasn't allowed to act a fool when he was a child. Tragic result.

Now to put "Bad Parenting" in a bit more of a perspective, I give you this. Number 9 is my favorite.
